Elise Christie: Won through to the 1500m quarter-final without incident

Elise Christie got off to the perfect start as she won her heat to reach the 1500m quarter-finals in the ISU World Cup event in Seoul.

After a slightly frustrating start to the season in Shanghai last weekend, the speed skater was right back on track with a confident showing on the first day in Korea.

The Scottish Winter Olympics medal hope can now look forward to the 1000m tomorrow before the latter stages of the 1500m take place on Saturday.

Christie finished in a time of 2:32.190 to see off competition from Katerina Novotna of the Czech Republic and Italy's Lucia Peretti who crossed the line in second and third, respectively.

Seoul is the final World Cup event before November when the meets in Italy and Russia will also act as qualifiers for February's Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
