Born to Chinese-Vietnamese parents in British Columbia, Carol Huynh represents Canada in freestyle wrestling and already has an Olympic gold on her CV.
Huynh's Chinese father and Vietnamese mother were refugees who settled in New Hazelton after being sponsored by a local church.
Wrestling is very much in the blood for Huynh and with both of her sisters also wrestling she took up the sport at 15 and continued it when she moved to the University of Calgary in 2007.
She already had World Championship silver and two bronzes by the time she arrived in Beijing, where she claimed gold in the 48kg category to make her own slice of history by becoming Canada's first ever wrestling gold medallist at the Olympics.
Another gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi cemented her place at the top of her sport, although she had to settled for bronze at that year's Worlds in Moscow and gold in that event still eludes her.
Wrestling is very much a family affair for Huynh, as she is married to a former wrestler and is coached by Leigh Vierling, husband of former multiple women's wrestling world champion Christine Nordhagen.
Huynh will head to London hoping to rise to the very top once again as she bids to defend her Olympic title.
