The Millennium Stadium, on the banks of the River Taff in the heart of Cardiff, will stage the very first event of the 2012 Olympics.
A women's football match will be played there on July 24, three days before the Games officially begin.
It will also host the men's bronze medal match.
With a retractable roof and seating for just under 75,000, the Millennium Stadium has been the scene of many top sporting events.
These have included FA and League Cup finals and the final of the 1999 Rugby World Cup.
It will be one of six 2012 Olympic football venues, the others being Wembley, Hampden Park, Old Trafford, St James' Park and Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
