Zara Dampney started out as an indoor volleyball player, representing both club and country. However, after she finished her university degree, she made the shift to beach volleyball.
The London Olympics will be the first time Team GB has been represented in beach volleyball since the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, when the sport joined the Olympic programme.
Dampney has competed alongside Shauna Mullin internationally since 2009 and they have achieved some notable results en route to earning their berth in the British side.
These include a runners-up position in the CEV Continental Cup tournament last June in the Ukrainian town of Ilyichevsk, before a fifth-place finish at the FIVB Challenger competition held in London last August.
Currently, the duo are ranked number one in Britain and 37th in the world.
