Daniel Fogg began swimming for the London Borough of Waltham Forest Swimming club, of which he eventually became captain.
The swimmer will be Britain's sole competitor in the men's open water 10km event for the Olympic Games this summer.
The 24-year-old Loughborough ITC athlete has also been selected to the GB squad to compete in the 1500m event.
Having made the Olympic qualifying time at the British Olympic Trials last time around in 2008, the British hopeful is aiming to show what he can do in front of a home crowd in Hyde Park this year.
He won gold at the British Championships in both 2010 and 2012 in the 1,500m Freestyle, as well as Commonwealth Games bronze in the 1,500m Freestyle in 2010.
In 2011, at the World Championships, he came 16th in the 10km marathon. He will be looking to improve on this when he takes to the Serpentine for the main event this summer.
