The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday that the Jamaican sprinter, who won three gold medals in the Olympic Stadium last summer, is set to compete in two events, and will therefore be in action on both 26 and 27 July.
And agent Ricky Sims says that, while a final agreement for Bolt to compete is not yet in place, talks with the organisers are going well.
"We are having positive negotiations but still have some things to finalise," Sims said in a brief statement.
A UK Athletics spokesman would not confirm whether any agreement had been reached with Bolt but said: "We are working hard to put together the best possible field."
The meeting, switched from Crystal Palace in order to commemorate the anniversary of the London 2012 opening ceremony, will feature an impressive line-up of Olympic champions, before the stars of the Paralympics take centre stage on 28 July.
Bolt has won the 100m and the 200m at the last two Olympics and would be expected to compete in one of those events at the Anniversary Games, plus the 4x100m relay.
He is set to be joined by fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake, the world 100m champion, and David Rudisha of Kenya, who set a new world record when he won the 800m Olympic gold in stunning fashion last summer, is also understood to have the event on his schedule.
Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis and Greg Rutherford won athletics gold medals for Great Britain last summer and will once again compete in front of their home fans.
