Ireland's men were denied a place at the London Olympics after South Korea snatched a late goal in their qualifying clash in Dublin on Sunday.

Nam Yong Lee scored the goal which broke the hosts' hearts just two seconds from the end of the game to give the Koreans a dramatic 3-2 win.

Peter Caruth gave Ireland an early lead with a rebound at a penalty corner but five minutes from half-time Lee equalised.

Timothy Cockram, who finished as the tournament's top scorer with six, put the hosts back in front in the 56th minute but the lead lasted just two minutes before Hyun Woo Nam converted a penalty stroke.

The match appeared destined for extra-time until Lee snatched a last-gasp winner, which was eventually confirmed by the video umpire, to clinch the one place available for the tournament winners for London this summer.
