Rachel Cawthorn: Was in impressive form
Britain's Rachel Cawthorn looked in impressive form as she qualified for the final of the women's single kayak
The 23-year-old from Guildford had said she was concentrating on the women's K4 event.
However she is now in with a good chance of a medal in the K1 race after winning her heat and then finishing a comfortable second in the semi-final.
The former European champion clocked a time of 1.53.49 seconds as she dominated her race from start to finish.
Cawthorn then went even quicker in the semi-final as she came home in 1.52.54 - just 0.31secs behind Italy's Josefa Idem
In the women's K2 500 metres, Abigail Edmonds and Louisa Sawers missed out on a place in the medal race after finishing seventh in their semi-final.
The pair had just done enough to reach the semis after finished in fifth spot in their heat.
