London 2012

Lizzie Neave

Lizzie has represented Britain for the past ten years as both a junior and senior. With her father being a canoe coach, he encouraged her in the sport from a young age and her passion grew from then on.

The Olympic debutant, coached by former Olympic silver medallist Paul Ratcliffe, earned her spot in the K1 event after winning all three selection races in April.

Fascinating Facts

  • Lizzie enjoys cycling, cooking and walking in her spare time.
  • She also has a degree in psychology from Loughborough University.

This included her beating off competition from Fiona Pennie, who competed in the K1 at Beijing 2008, and Louise Donington.

In 2011, the paddler came third in the K1 at the European Championships and at the World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia she finished in 16th spot.

In the 2012 World Cup series, she won K1 bronze and will be looking to build on this result when she takes to the water at the Lee Valley White Water Centre this summer.
