London 2012

Luke Campbell

At 24, Luke is one of the most experienced members of the squad having been taken on by the Great Britain team before Beijing, where he missed out on an Olympic place to Joe Murray.

However, later that year he became the first boxer since 1961 to win a European Championship gold medal for GB when he defeated Detelin Dalakliev of Bulgaria by countback in a tense final in Liverpool after the scores had finished all-square.

Fascinating Facts

  • Luke has spent time training at legendary coach Freddie Roach's Wild Card gym in LA.
  • He was featured in Vogue's sporting yearbook, a portfolio of British Olympic athletes, earlier this year .

A hand injury kept him out of action for almost a year but on his return in 2010 he embarked on a 23-fight unbeaten run, which ended controversially at the 2011 Europeans.

But he bounced back strongly to secure a silver medal at the World Championships and earn a spot on the Olympics team in the process.

Luke has passed up offers to turn pro in a bid to secure Olympic glory.
