The 2015 NFL Draft kicked off on Thursday night with the first 32 picks announced to the world at a lavish event in Chicago. But what have we learned from the opening round of American Football's famous auction...
Quarterbacks the key
The top two picks were quarterbacks - Jameis Winston to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Marcus Mariota to the Tennessee Titans.
The pair had tussled for months to be named No 1 pick, with their character off the field and talent on it, being dissected at every opportunity by media and fan alike.
By Draft Day Winston was a dead-cert to be picked first by the Buccaneers. From his home in Alabama, the 21-year-old celebrated his new status with a plate full of crab legs - the seafood he was accused of shop-lifting from a store in Tallahassee last April.
Meanwhile, out on the Hawaiian island of Honolulu, Mariota toasted his selection with family. The new Titans player was highly sought after with the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears desperate for a chance to give him a contract and hopeful of a trade. But the Titans made their stance clear; that the Heisman Trophy winner will be their main man and is likely to be their new starter.
Jacksonville Jaguars spent their No 3 overall on a defensive end in Florida's Dante Fowler Jr.
But it wasn't the 6ft-3in, 261-pound pass-rusher's early selection that raised eyebrows - more his shoes!
The 20-year-old added a pair of gold diamond encrusted loafers to his white tuxedo ensemble and even shed a few tears.
Running backs
The running back streak is finally over. Todd Gurley's selection by the St. Louis Rams 10th means he becomes the first RB to be picked in the first round since 2012.
It didn't take long for a second though, as the San Diego Chargers picked Melvin Gordon five goes later after snaring a move up two slots to snatch the Wisconsin star.
Jets get lucky
The New York Jets used their first-round pick for a defensive lineman for the fourth time in five years. This time they selected former USC man Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick.
Williams was regarded as one of the best players available in the Draft and Jets general manager Michael Maccagnan said he was "kind of surprised" the 20-year-old was still on the table when it came to their turn.
While Williams also hadn't envisaged his future in New York, mostly because they have an excess of defensive linesman already.
Shelton
When the Cleveland Browns selected nose tackle Danny Shelton at No 12, the former Washington man couldn't contain his excitement.
Dressed in traditional Samoan attire, Shelton gave NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell a massive bear-hug lifting him off the ground.
Shelton, who did 34 reps on the bench press at the Combine, told reporters why he chose to wear traditional clothing: "Polynesian culture, we're a humble people," Shelton said, adding: "I just wanted to make sure that I was representing my family, my culture and my university the right way. I'm representing my culture here with this wardrobe."
