Dante Fowler, who was the third pick in the recent NFL draft, is likely to miss the entire 2015 season after suffering a knee injury during his first training session with Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fowler, who was the first non-quarterback to be selected in last week’s draft – behind Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota – tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a rookie minicamp on Friday.

The injury looked serious and appeared even worse in video replays.

Fowler, who played at the University of Florida, went down holding his left knee which buckled during a tackle with Watts Dantzler.

Fowler fell to the ground, grabbed his leg and rolled over from side to side before eventually getting helped off the field.

The pass rusher was Jacksonville’s first pick and his injury is a cruel blow to both player and team which won just three of 16 games last season.
