The Dallas Cowboys recorded a fourth straight victory over the New York Giants, though they needed Tony Romo to engineer a late scoring drive to see off their divisional rivals 31-28 at MetLife Stadium.

Quarterback Romo was given plenty of time by his offensive line to find receiver Dez Bryant in the end zone and settle a see-saw Sunday night contest in favour of the visitors, who now boast a 5-0 record on the road for the year.

The result also moves the Cowboys to 8-3 for the season and back level with the Philadelphia Eagles at the top of the NFC East. The two teams meet on Thanksgiving Day this Thursday, a game you can see live on Sky Sports.

The Giants, meanwhile, have now lost six straight to slump to 3-8, though Odell Beckham Jr did provide one moment of pure magic for the home fans to remember in what has been an otherwise disappointing campaign.

The rookie wide receiver produced a real highlight-reel catch for a touchdown in the second quarter, reaching up with one hand as he fell back into the end zone after being interfered with by a Cowboys defender.

The stunning grab, Beckham's second TD catch of the night, put the Giants 14-3 in front and they then led 21-10 at the end of the first half.

However Dallas hit back with 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, Romo throwing touchdown passes of 45 yards to Cole Beasley and then 31 yards to Bryant.

Manning, who had thrown a costly interception in the third when his team were in scoring range, edged the Giants back in front with three minutes to play when he capped an impressive 93-yard drive with a short pass to Adrien Robinson in the end zone.

Romo, though, would have the last word. He marched Dallas 80 yards down the field in response, hitting Bryant for the game-winner and setting up a showdown with the Eagles for the lead in the division.

"You gain experience and understand where your mindset needs to be to win the game," Romo, who completed 18 of his 26 pass attempts for 275 yards and four scores, said. "When you've been through it you can give yourself an advantage, mentally. You go do it."

Beckham finished with 146 receiving yards but admitted some of the shine had been taken off his contender for catch of the season due to the Giants being beaten again.

"I hope it's not the greatest catch of all time. I hope that I can make more," he said. "It really means nothing without a win."
