The New England Patriots have re-signed running back LeGarrette Blount after he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this week.
Blount played in 16 games for the franchise last season in total, piling up 772 yards and seven touchdowns.
In New England's post-season win over the Indianapolis Colts in January, Blount ran for 166 yards and set a franchise record with four rushing touchdowns.
He signed for the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent over the off-season but found his playing time limited by the form of Le'Veon Bell and he was allowed to leave on Tuesday after having left their Week 11 game with the Tennessee Titans before the conclusion.
To make room for Blount, the Patriots have released defensive lineman Casey Walker.
Walker made five appearances for the team after signing from Carolina's practice squad in September - he made 10 tackles and accounted for one sack.
