Bangor may consider organising more schooling racedays after the initial response from their first sessions on Friday was a positive one.

Leading trainers Donald McCain and David Pipe were among those who supported the innovation at the Welsh track, while jockeys in action included Liam Treadwell and Paddy Brennan.

Over 60 horses took part in a total of six sessions - three over hurdles and three on the Flat - which were all held over two miles on the inner course.

"We had 10 horses in every session and were delighted," said clerk of the course Andrew Morris.

"We had horses from Donald McCain, Brian Ellison, David Pipe, Tom George and Fergal O'Brien, for example.

"Jockey wise, the ones we had included Paddy Brennan, Dougie Costello, Danny Cook and Liam Treadwell.

"It has been really well received and we've been delighted with the feedback so far from people who've been and the way everyone has responded to it and the number of horses we had.

"To have 60 horses was a fantastic number for the first time we've done something like this.

"We'd be very keen to do it again, but, equally, we want to take stock and have further feedback from those who have been here and taken part, look at how we might do it in future and how it can be improved.

"It is something if the demand is there from people then we'd be very happy to do it again in the future."

The schooling raceday had been originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was postponed because of strong winds, the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo.
