The Giant Bolster, third in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, could make his seasonal reappearance in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday week.
Trainer David Bridgwater said: "The Giant Bolster could go for the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase. Everything has gone really well since he has come back in. If he is ready and we are happy, then he will start at Wetherby.
"He has been a wonderful horse and would be for any trainer or owner, let alone a small yard like ours. It's great. We will continue with the hood and visor this season or certainly something similar."
As well as his tremendous run in chasing's blue riband, The Giant Bolster also won the Argento Chase at Prestbury Park last season.
The bet365 Charlie Hall Chase is the first major target for the top staying chasers. It boasts a top-class roll of honour featuring Wayward Lad (1983 & 1985), One Man (1996 & 1997), See More Business (1999 & 2000) and more recently, Silviniaco Conti (2012).
