Rae Guest is hoping the dry autumn continues so he can give gallant Ayr Gold Cup second Minalisa an other run this season.

The five-year-old mare ran a tremendous race on the unfavoured far side of the course when beaten only by Louis The Pious on the other side of the track in the ultra-competitive and valuable six-furlong handicap.

"She's 100%, we're very happy with her. She's taken it all very well," said the Newmarket trainer.

"There hadn't been a horse within three lengths of the winner on that side all week.

"She has got some nice entries but it has to be the right ground for her. The thing is she likes fast ground so it depends on the weather. If the ground is right she'll run somewhere else. We'll just have to wait and see how the ground is.

"She's rated 101 and there aren't many handicaps left for her at the moment, but there are a couple of Listed and Group races towards the end of the year. If the ground is right she'll run in one of those."

There is also a good chance Minalisa will stay in training next season before she retires to the breeding sheds.

"The owner said after the Ayr Gold Cup he'd probably keep her in training next year. We'll see how she finishes the year off," said Guest.

"She's a valuable broodmare prospect because she's a relation to horses like Dick Whittington. As long as she's enjoying her racing we might keep her going another year."
