Big show from Krypton Factor at Hamilton for George Peckham

A review of the action from Hamilton Park, where Krypton Factor gave rookie trainer George Peckham his first winner.

Krypton Factor gave rookie trainer George Peckham his first winner when rolling back the years in the totequadpot EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes at Hamilton.

The six-year-old sprinter had not graced the winner's enclosure since lifting the Group One Dubai Golden Shaheen, worth some three-quarters of a million pounds, at Meydan in 2012 when trained by his owner, Fawzi Nass.

However, he had been showing encouraging signs since being placed with Peckham, who spent four years as assistant to Ed Dunlop, and came good in his third run for his new trainer.

The 10/1 chance showed he still retains plenty of ability as he battled to a neck victory in the hands of Paul Mulrennan over Another Wise Kid to land the feature race on the Scottish track's card.

"I'm delighted to get my first winner, to get it a conditions race makes it more special and, of course, with the old boy Krypton as well," said Peckham, who has a string of 18 at Newmarket and was having his 14th runner since taking out a licence two months ago.

"Mr Nass has been very good to me and to have a horse like Krypton Factor in my first year is a great privilege.

"We were pretty confident he was back to somewhere where he was a couple of years ago. It's great to see him do it, and in a style like that.

"Paul gave him a great ride, no nonsense, grabbed the rail and away he went.

"We haven't got any immediate plans. We just wanted to get his head in front. We'll take stock and see what to do with him.

"Mr Nass has given me a great opportunity. My time with Mr Dunlop is starting to pay off now, I learnt an awful lot from him."

Owner John Fretwell, trainer David Brown and jockey Sean Levey pocketed the first two races with Best Dressed and Munfallet.

Best Dressed (9/2) wore down long-time leader Straightothepoint in the closing stages to claim the Bet totejackpot Nursery Handicap, while Munfallet (15/8 favourite) shrugged off Royal Connoisseur by two and three-quarter lengths in the totepool Supporting The Sport You Love Handicap.

Levey picked up a one-day ban for careless riding on Munfallet. He will be stood down on October 6.

Yorkidding (4/6 favourite) stepped up on her debut fourth to open her account with the minimum of fuss in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Her trainer Mark Johnston and jockey Joe Fanning completed a double when Right Of Appeal (7/2) came late to win the four-runner Bet totetrifecta Handicap.

It was a particularly notable success for the in-form Fanning, as it was a 100th winner of the season and a remarkable fourth double within the last seven days.

Eric Alston saddled his first winner for 50 days when Lord Franklin (4/1) registered his third course victory with a gutsy display in the Follow At totepool On Twitter Handicap.

Having made the running he was headed but fought back bravely to deny Raamz and Tectonic in a tight finish under Jason Hart.

Hart was denied a double when he had to settle for second place on Rylee Mooch behind Andrew Elliott on the Simon West-trained Slim Chance (5/1) in the Collect totepool Winnings At Betfred Shops Handicap.
