It looks like Group One assignments from now on for Malabar after her effortless victory in the Whiteley Clinic Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.
Fourth in the Albany Stakes and with an Ascot maiden victory under her belt, Mick Channon's filly was returning to Pattern level as the 13-8 favourite.
Richard Hughes, riding with incredible confidence after his last-gasp Nunthorpe victory on Friday, delivered the market leader safely into the lead close home to deprive Bonnie Grey of the spoils by a length.
"We've always thought she was pretty decent," said Channon.
"It's exciting when you have one like this, as they don't come along too often. She's in the Moyglare, and she's in the Fillies' Mile.
"We'll get her home and have a think. Hughesie thinks she could go to the Breeders' Cup as she's got that turn of foot, but this was the target as I wanted to win a Group race first."
