Jamie Osborne is hoping "fortune favours the brave" after giving stable star Toast Of New York the green light for another trans-Atlantic mission later this month.
The three-year-old justified his trainer's faith with a brilliant victory in the UAE Derby at Meydan at the end of March, after which a tilt at the Epsom Derby was considered before connections eventually decided to head Stateside for the Belmont Derby early last month.
Toast Of New York travelled well for a long way in New York before eventually weakening into sixth and Osborne found his charge to be under the weather after returning a dirty scope back in Britain.
The Lambourn-based trainer feels his stable star is back on-song and he is due to board the plane on Friday ahead of a tilt at the Pacific Classic at Del Mar on August 24.
Osborne said: "He worked well this morning and most importantly he scoped clean. He'll have a canter in the morning and as long as everything is okay, he'll be on the box on Friday and will arrive in California on Saturday night.
"We're happy with the horse and he looks great, so we're hoping fortune favours the brave.
"We think we know why he underperformed in New York. This is going to be a tough ask for him, but it's worth
1million dollars and if you can't have a bit of fun and enjoy owning horses like him then what's the point?
"We know he handles the surface, he justifies a place in the field and it's going to be another exciting trip for us all.
"There isn't a lot for him in England or Europe coming up and I've no idea what we'll do with him after the race in California.
"We know where we want to be in the next six to nine months and it could be that after he runs at Del Mar he won't run again before he goes to Dubai.
"One thing we definitely will be doing is taking him out to Dubai early next year to give him chance to familiarise himself with the new dirt surface.
"If it had been the same surface as last year, the Tapeta, we obviously wouldn't need to do that, but the surface has changed and we want to make sure we're in the best position for the World Cup."
