We Are has been disqualified following her victory in the Group One Prix Saint-Alary back in May.

France Galop have announced the Freddy Head-trained filly showed levels of testosterone which were higher than permitted, with the problem due to an ovarian tumour.

The tumour has since been removed and connections of the George Strawbridge-owned filly will face no punishment.

Understandably, Head has taken the news badly but is hoping to get the filly back on track later in the year.

"It is terrible news," he said.

"She never missed a day and was very sound. She had those three races in six or seven weeks and had never been stopped.

"We were obviously aiming her at the Prix de Diane but then this happened.

"She has been operated on and had it removed. She's back on track now and will be back in full training next week.

"Deauville is obviously out of the question now, but I'd hope to run her in the Prix Vermeille, we'll see.

"The Breeders' Cup? You never know, but Mr Strawbridge is not really a fan of the Breeders' Cup, but she'll have options - Hong Kong maybe.

"She'll be fresh for the end of the season so hopefully the Vermeille and maybe then the Arc, we'll see."
