James Given: Delighted with Pastoral Girl

Pastoral Girl could try to lose her maiden tag in the Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes at York on August 21 following her creditable effort in Pattern company at Ascot.

The James Given-trained filly may not have won in four races so far but she demonstrated her ability when finishing second to Osaila in the Group Three Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes on Saturday.

While connections may also look at a suitable opportunity in maiden company for the daughter of Pastoral Pursuits, the six-furlong Group Two on the Knavesmire is a tempting proposition.

"We were obviously delighted with the run and she's fine today. She's come out of it well," said Lincolnshire-based Given.

"She's in the Lowther and she's still a maiden, so we'll probably be thinking of trying to win her maiden at some point but we'll look forward to the Lowther. That's her next target."
