A review of the rest of the action from York where Kleo struck for Luca Cumani in the opening contest.

Luca Cumani's Kleo won the Skybet-sponsored EBF Stallion Fillies' Handicap at York in the style of a rapidly improving youngster.

It may have taken her four races to open her account, and that was on the all-weather 18 days ago, but she put this race to bed very quickly a furlong and a half out under Danny Tudhope.

The 2/1 favourite ran out a hugely impressive three-and-three-quarter-length winner from Cosmic Halo and Maven.

Matt Cumani, the Newmarket trainer's son and assistant, said: "She's really progressive.

"She's from an unusual stallion (Kavafi) who was in Greece for a few seasons and is now in Bulgaria, I think. I reckon Coolmore ought to snap him up!

"She stood out in the paddock beforehand, but we might not jump her up in class too much too soon just yet."

David O'Meara's five-year-old is having a good summer but looked booked for second as Alfred Hutchinson hit the front inside the final furlong.

It was another occasion when David Nolan looked every inch a top-class pilot, though, and if it was not for his continuous battle with the scales he would surely be in the upper echelons of the weighing room.

Alejandro prevailed by a neck, with Silent Bullet third. "He won here two starts ago, he likes the ground and the trip," said O'Meara.

"He was given a great ride. He's only scrambled home so we'll see what the handicapper does but he's obviously thriving.

"We gave David about 20 winners last year, more than anyone else, and we use him when we can when Danny (Tudhope) is not available." Tudhope was on board the unplaced stablemate of the winner, Dutch Rose.

It was just like the old days as Mick Easterby's Itlaaq (3-1 favourite) and Kieren Fallon won the two-mile Skybet handicap, while the Mark Johnston-trained Indescribable (15-2) did the business in the Skybet Supporting New Beginnings Stakes.

The stewards at York had a busy day, dishing out several bans.
