Ed Walker is eagerly awaiting the handicapper's assessment of Lightning Moon's impressive victory at Haydock on Saturday before considering future plans.

Having made a good impression with a winning debut at Salisbury at the start of the month, the Shamardal colt slammed a field of more experienced rivals by upwards of six lengths on Merseyside and can expect a significant rise in the weights.

Walker believes the future is bright for his exciting three-year-old.

"He's quite an immature horse, so we haven't done a great deal with him at home, but he's still managed to look quite smart, which is nice," said the Newmarket handler.

"He is still a big baby, so we don't really want to rush him into anything too glamorous too soon, but we'll have to see what the handicapper does on Tuesday and make a plan from there.

"We were very hopeful he'd win on Saturday as we know he's quite a nice horse, but I wasn't expecting him to win quite so easily against experienced handicappers.

"I would imagine he'll get a mark which will mean he can only run in the bigger handicaps, but you need three runs to get in, so he will probably have to go to a conditions race or a Listed race next.

"The standout option is a Listed race at Salisbury in a couple of weeks over six furlongs. Hopefully most of the better horses will be running at Royal Ascot.

"There is also a conditions race back at Haydock in early July, so we'll just see how we go.

"I think he would probably get seven furlongs, but I wouldn't want to go any further."
