Kell's first Porter call

Kell Brook has warned Shawn Porter he needs to respect him - or he’ll lose his world title.

The Sheffield star is now in line to challenge the IBF welterweight title holder following Porter's four-round battering of Paulie Malignaggi.

I don't think he had the respect there for Paulie but when it comes down to me he knows I can punch and he knows I want that world title

It was the first time in six fights and two years that Porter had won with a knockout and although Brook admitted it was an impressive performance, the Brit is adamant he will pose a different proposition when they get it on this summer.

"When it comes to me and Porter I think he knows I am a young lion who wants that world title and he knows that I am very accurate, that I've got devastating power myself," he told Ringside.

"He's been knocked out in the amateurs so he can be hurt.

"He knows I can hurt him so he won't come in like he did against Paulie."

Brook was confirmed as the IBF's mandatory challenger earlier this year and will finally get his shot within 90 days.

Had Malignaggi become champion there was every chance he would have come to the United Kingdom to defend.

But Brook admits that it is now more than likely he will have to cross the Atlantic to tackle Porter.

"I know that Eddie (Hearn) is talking to their people and I think there's a strong chance that it will be in America.

"But it's not 100 per cent and will be sorted out in the next couple of weeks."
