Bastia have signed Brazilian striker Brandao from Saint-Etienne on a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old had a year left on his contract with Les Verts but has opted for a move to Corsica after passing a medical on Thursday.

Under the headline "Brandao is a blue", the club wrote on their website: "The Brazilian striker from St Etienne signed this afternoon with Sporting Club de Bastia for a year with an option for a further year."

Brandao made his name in European football with Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to Marseille in 2009.

He helped the club win the Ligue 1 title in his first season in France and also scored the only goal in their 2012 Coupe de la Ligue final against Lyon, repeating the feat the following season to help ASSE beat Rennes.
