Tranmere have continued to reinforce using the loan market by acquiring Colchester's Josh Thompson on a deal until January.
The 23-year-old centre-back follows Armand Gnanduillet and Danny Johnson in moving to Prenton Park this week after Micky Adams started work as Rovers' manager on Monday. Thompson has spent most of his career away from parent clubs Celtic, Portsmouth and Colchester, with loan spells at Rochdale, Peterborough and Chesterfield. His last senior appearance in the Football League came in April 2013.
