Alexander challenges refs chief

Graham Alexander has spoken to referees chief David Allison because he believes Fleetwood are receiving unfair treatment on the road.

The Cod Army have had four penalties given against them this season, three of which have been awarded in their away fixtures, and Alexander is adamant that their status as the division's smallest club is affecting referee's judgements. That was the view spouted by defender Stephen Jordan this week when he claimed "referees aren't going to give little old Fleetwood these decisions" and Alexander believes he has a point. Explaining his meeting with Allison, Alexander said: "He came out and met me two weeks ago - since then we've had the non-penalty against Colchester and the penalty given at MK Dons so absolutely nothing's changed. "I didn't want to be ranting and raving and hopefully when I have said things I've said them in the right way and not slandered the referee's ability or character, but I do think they've been influenced. "I do think it's too easy to give decisions against us away from home when we haven't got a massive following. We're a small club that's come up and playing some big clubs. "He could see my point of view. We're not asking for a certain influence, we're just asking for a fair playing field and we feel that hasn't been the case away from home. "I've tried to go along the right lines because I know they've got a tough job, I understand that. But I think they're being influenced at the moment. It's a difficult one for us to take."
