Curle getting tough on Carlisle

Image: Keith Curle: Wants players' full attention

Keith Curle is prepared to hit his players and backroom staff where it hurts in his bid to lift Carlisle off the foot of the table.

Former Notts County manager Curle, who took over from Graham Kavanagh earlier this month, insists he will not make changes for the sake of it at Brunton Park, but has already fined one player and a coach for breaking training ground protocol. "I did a little bit of shape work on Friday then we brought the set-plays into the session," Curle told the club's official website. "Unfortunately a couple of the players were talking when I was. "I thought, right, I've spent seven hours of my time working on this and they now want to talk when I'm talking - so they got fined. "I then turned round and one of my members of staff was coaching while I was - so he got fined. "I only needed their attention for 20 minutes and I don't think that's a lot to ask. "They all now know that when I'm doing set-plays or coaching they have to listen to me." Club managing director John Nixon has also fallen foul of the Cumbrians' new regime after beating the manager to the dressing room on Saturday to congratulate the players after their first win of the season against Tranmere. "That will have to change," Curle added. "We can't have anybody talking to the players when I want to talk to them."
