Rob Jones: Assuming a coaching role
Doncaster captain Rob Jones will combine his playing duties with a coaching role this season.
The experienced defender, working his way back to fitness following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a neck injury, has agreed to take charge of the Rovers development squad as he looks to make his way into management.
Speaking after the pre-season friendly against South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham at the weekend, the 34-year-old said: "The gaffer and I discussed it at the end of last season.
"He offered me the reserve team and the development squad and I took it with both hands. It's a great offer from him, as long as it doesn't get in the way of playing and training.
"The most important thing for me is playing. But I want to be a manager. That's what I want to do next. I've made no bones about that.
"I'm half way through my A-Licence at the moment and this is something that well help me. I'm not getting any younger and I need to do something when I've finished playing."
