Andy Awford: Satisfied with friendly win
Portsmouth manager Andy Awford was pleased with his side's progress after they overcame Thurrock 2-0 in their latest pre-season game.
Two goals from Craig Westcarr sealed the victory, although it could have been more had the woodwork not intervened.
Awford was pleased with the win but conceded they should have been more clinical. He told the club's official website: "A lot of people got an hour under their belts and it's good to start building up the minutes.
"I was pleased once again with their application and attitude - I don't think you can fault that. But we did need to take more care in the final third because we should have scored more goals.
"They're tough games when you come to play non-league sides - it's a potential banana skin. But we weren't troubled too much defensively and I was really pleased with that.
"It was a good competitive game on a fine surface and probably closer to what we can expect in League Two."
Young striker Bradley Tarbuck was forced off with an ankle injury shortly after coming on and he will be monitored, but Awford revealed James Dunne should be available for their game against Ebbsfleet on Saturday following a hamstring problem.
