Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann has confirmed Tony Daws will revert to his position as youth-team coach.

Daws helped boss Russ Wilcox with first-team duties as the Iron won promotion from League Two last season following the sacking of Brian Laws in November, but will now return to work with the kids after deciding against becoming Wilcox's number two. Chairman Peter Swann told the club's official website: "Tony has had a fantastic year supporting Russ and the coaches on their way to promotion and a discussion has taken place between the board, myself Tony and Russ. "There was a huge temptation for Tony to become assistant manager and who could blame him. However, after long discussions Tony has decided to continue his role within the youth set up "The youth academy is very important to the future of the football club. I want to ensure that we develop and grow quality players through our system and enable players to fulfill their dreams of becoming a professional footballer. "We now have a two to three-year plan based around the growth of the youth academy which for me is an exciting and demanding project and I am delighted that Tony will be leading us through to completion."
