Matt Sparrow has set his sights on the League Two title by helping to extend Scunthorpe's unbeaten record to 30 matches.
The Iron are two points clear at the top of the table after stretching their club record unbeaten run to 28 games with victory over Oxford on Monday and two more wins will see them promoted as champions. "It's going to go right to the wire, it's exciting times and we want to finish as champions," Sparrow told the club's official website. "We're 100 per cent confident, we just have to stay level-headed and go again at Exeter (on Saturday). "It's another massive game because they are scrapping for their lives as well." Boss Russ Wilcox broke a 125-year-old Football League record for games unbeaten at the start of a managerial reign when Scunthorpe made it 24 games without defeat under him with a goalless home draw against Wycombe last month. Wilcox, who replaced Brian Laws on November 20, beat the previous record of 23 matches set by Preston's William Sudell during the 1888-89 season. Sparrow added: "It's a great feeling, hopefully we can go all season now and win the last two. "It's terrific for everyone in the squad and obviously for the manager, Russ."
