Defeat hard to take for Tisdale

Paul Tisdale could not hide his disappointment after seeing Exeter throw away their chance of securing their place in League Two.

Scot Bennett had given the Grecians a 1-0 half-time lead at Torquay but the Gulls, who had to win to stand any chance of taking their battle for survival into the next weekend, looked a different side after the break and won the game with two goals in quick succession from Courtney Cameron and substitute Ashley Yeoman. "You won't be surprised to hear that I am bitterly disappointed," said Tisdale, whose side stay two points above the relegation zone. "It was a game we were desperate to win, but we didn't play well enough and we have lost the game. "I am very disappointed and I have to temper that with thoughts of the last two games. It hurts and I am upset and disappointed, but I have to make sure that we keep our focus and our togetherness for the next two games. "This weekend has been symptomatic of our form, our play, our season, and our team. We went to Chesterfield on Friday and we looked like a promotion team and we should have won the game, albeit we couldn't put the ball in the net. And then today, we have struggled at home. "I have a lot of thoughts about it, but there is not a lot you can do about it during the season because we are not a team that can refresh with players mid-season, so even if I see issues in September or October, we can't change." On Exeter's survival chances, Tisdale added: "It is in our hands. We are playing against a very good team &£91;Scunthorpe&£93; next week, but that shouldn't hold any more fear for us than a game against Torquay because you've seen our form and our record against the teams in our league and I don't think we should fear playing Scunthorpe next week."
