Scougall hails boss Clough

Stefan Scougall has thanked manager Nigel Clough and the club's fans following his impressive start to life at Sheffield United.

Scougall has made an instant impact at Bramall Lane since arriving in a £400,000 switch from Scottish Championship side Livingston in January, playing a key role in the Blades' upturn in fortunes. The 21-year-old said: "The manager gives you so much belief and confidence to go out and express yourself. "If you work hard then he'll only be happy with you. "If you're not having a good game, if you're still giving 110 per cent he'll be happy and I think that's what we all think. He's been first-class." Scougall, who scored the Blades' second goal last week when they threatened to pull off another FA Cup shock against Hull at Wembley, played in front of crowds in their low thousands for Livingston in Scottish football's second tier, but has thrived on the bigger stage. "When I first came down I didn't realise just how big a club it is and how big a city Sheffield actually is," he added. "I made my debut against Fulham and I was taken aback by the support and ever since I've made my debut the fans have been tremendous and I need to appreciate that and thank them for that."
