Sky Sports Fantasy Football bosses will be thinking hard about their frontlines this weekend after the recent avalanche of goals, but value appears to sit with the midfield maestros.

In terms of points-per-pound, the midfielders are currently scoring at a more efficient rate than the frontmen, with the likes of Santi Cazorla and Michu picking up 10 points per £1m.

Compare that to the game's three leading marksmen Demba Ba, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie and you are getting 7.2, 6.56 and 6.3 points per £1m.

However, it is last season's top scorer Van Persie who is proving the most appealing for bosses this weekend, with 25 per cent transferring him in ahead of the visit of his former club, Arsenal, while 20 per cent have him as captain.

The Gunners may currently boast the best defensive record but have only kept one clean sheet in their last 11 games in all competitions, including conceding five at Reading in midweek.

Their former hero is odds-on at 10/11 with Sky Bet to haunt his former club by scoring, while Theo Walcott might be a bold signing at £7.5m as he is expected to be played in a central role, having netted seven times in all competitions despite limited opportunities.

The bookmakers make Tottenham the biggest favourites to win this weekend as they host Wigan, with Gareth Bale (£8.8m) their in-form man.

The Welsh winger has made up for missing the crucial clash with Chelsea by netting in his last two games, but Jermain Defoe (£7.8m) remains Spurs' top points scorer thanks to five goals and two assists.

Despite Michu's threat, Chelsea should have too much for Swansea when they visit the Liberty Stadium with fellow attacking midfielders Juan Mata (£8.9m) and Eden Hazard (£7.7m) in irresistible form.

Mata is the Premier League's form man with four goals and assists in the last four matches, while Hazard has contributed seven assists and two goals.

Liverpool are also strong favourites to win when Newcastle visit on Sunday, with Luis Suarez the obvious pick having had a hand in nine of their 12 goals this season.

However, there is also young winger Raheem Sterling who continues to offer value, picking up 42 points so far for a meagre price tag of £4.3m.

The Reds will be hoping the league's leading goalscorer Demba Ba fails a late fitness test, with his strike partner Papiss Cisse struggling to regain his form from the second half of last season, netting just once this term.

Elsewhere, Dimitar Berbatov (£6.8m) looks worth backing to improve his tally of three goals in four starts when Everton visit Craven Cottage, while the Toffees will hope to have the impressive Kevin Mirallas (£7.7m) back.
