St Mirren have completed the signing of former Derby County striker Callum Ball on a one-year deal, with the option of a further year.

The 21-year-old had been on trial with the club for the English leg of their pre-season tour where he featured against Blyth Spartans and Whitley Bay, scoring five goals in the process.

Ball made his first-team debut for the Rams in May 2010 in a Championship match against Cardiff City.

The forward went on to make 30 appearances for the club before being loaned out to Coventry City, Torquay United and Notts County in recent seasons.

Ball will join former Hibernian striker Ross Caldwell, who signed on a similar deal earlier this month, as Saints manager Tommy Craig looks to increase his options up front.
