A crowd of 30,000 watched Paul Bonhomme win the Final Four race at Ascot

Defending champion Paul Bonhomme won round five of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship at Ascot racecourse.

Bonhomme thrilled a crowd of 30,000 with his first win in the series since the opener in Abu Dhabi, finishing ahead of fellow Briton Nigel Lamb with Frenchman Nicolas Ivanoff claiming third.

Victory saw Bonhomme cut Hannes Arch’s lead in the championship to two points after the Austrian finished a disappointing eighth.

With only three rounds remaining the title race appears to be going to the wire - next stop in the eight-round series is Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas on September 5.
