The scout reports...

With Chelsea just announcing the signing of Wallace from Fluminese, we check on the man hoping to become part of the future at Stamford Bridge.

Right-back Wallace starting playing football at an early age and he was picked up by Fluminese in 2005 aged just 11, although before that he had already featured in their academies close in his local neighbourhood.

Wallace progressed well through the ranks and it was not long before he was called into the international ranks with Brazil's Under-15 side, and he has continued to play at every level up to Under-20.

Even before he had played for Fluminese, clubs were already taking a keen interest in his progress, and it was Chelsea who beat the pack to a deal. With Fluminese agreeing a move for Deco, the English outfit negotiated to take 40 per cent of Wallace's ownership rights with a view to signing him in the future.

Wallace then emerged as a target with his performances at the South American Under-17 Championship in 2011, which brought him to the attention of many clubs throughout Europe as he starred in Brazil's win.

After returning from the tournament in Ecuador, he was soon promoted to the senior squad and made his debut and he has since been a regular.

His promotion to the first-team and subsequent progress has forced Chelsea's hand, with Italian giants Juventus one of many clubs taking a keen interest, and a £5million deal has been announced.

As part of the deal Wallace will remain in Brazil until the summer, at which point he will link-up with Chelsea.

So, how good is Wallace? Well he is the latest in a long-line of full-backs to emerge from Fluminese following on from Marcelo and Manchester United twins Rafael and Fabio, and he is clearly in the same mould.

Full of running, pace and power are the traits you first you see with Wallace - although he is physically ahead of the likes of the Da Silva twins.

He is raw, but has progressed in leaps and bounds since making it into the first-team, where has impressed. Wallace is an archetypal South American full-back as he will offer as much in the final third as last third.

But come next summer, he is likely to be pushing for a place in the first-team squad.

The scout says...

An obvious talent, and signing him is a clear no-brainer for Chelsea having already spotted his potential.

Chelsea are emerging as one of the finest academies in Europe and there will be few better places for Wallace to progress.
