Alain Menu: unstoppable in Shanghai
Switzerland's Alain Menu claimed his fifth World Touring Car Championship victory of the season by outpacing Rob Huff in Shanghai.
Menu came through a difficult opening sequence of corners, with RML Chevrolet team-mate Huff pushing him all the way, but the latter decided not to attempt a passing move following Yvan Muller's first-lap retirement.
Muller was tapped by Norbert Michelisz on the second turn, before further knocks from Colin Turkington saw him heading to the pits early with a broken wheel.
Huff capitalised to move second, but he was unwilling to overtake his team-mate, telling autosport.com: "After the dramas I have had in the past, as soon as I saw that Yvan was in trouble I stayed off the kerbs and just wanted to finish."
2012 debutant Turkington ended up down in 20th after Pepe Oriola ran over his wheels, with the Spaniard later sustaining race-ending damage.
Stefano d'Aste was promoted to third place for Wiechers-Sport, with Tiago Monteiro moving from 17th to seventh place in only the second race weekend.
Huff now leads the drivers' standings on 365 points, 16 ahead of Muller, with Menu third on 337.
