Jorge Lorenzo: Came past Marquez on the last lap to claim win at Silverstone
Jorge Lorenzo took a dramatic win at the British MotoGP after coming out on top in a thrilling last-lap battle with Marc Marquez at Silverstone.
Championship leader Marquez dislocated his shoulder in the warm-up session on Sunday morning but was cleared to race and even managed to mount a late charge for victory.
The Repsol Honda rider passed his fellow Spaniard on the last lap, but reigning champion Lorenzo managed to get back in front at the final corner.
Dani Pedrosa finished in third position with Valentino Rossi and Alvaro Bautista completing the top five. Cal Crutchlow was the leading British rider in seventh place.
Marquez started on pole but was overtaken by Lorenzo at the start, with the Yamaha rider remaining ahead for the majority of the race.
Despite his injury Marquez did not slip back and tracked his compatriot for several laps before finally making his move heading into the closing stages.
Lorenzo held the lead at the start of the final lap but Marquez came out of his slipstream and managed to get ahead at the end of the Wellington straight.
He was still ahead going into Luffield - the last corner of the race - but Lorenzo had the better line and made a move which stuck to the chequered flag.
The result originally allowed Marquez extend his championship lead to 30 points over Pedrosa, with Lorenzo nine points futher back.
But Marquez was then docked two points for failing to slow down for yellow flags in the warm-up, during which he almost crashed into a group of stewards who were attending the stricken bike of Crutchlow.
