Cal Crutchlow: Apologies to fans after 'strange' day
Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow has made a public apology to frustrated fans after the lack of running in Friday's two rain-affected practice sessions in Misano.
With no intermediate tyres available in MotoGP, several of the leading riders opted to sit out both runs in the San Marino event.
As the circuit never quite dry enough for slicks, and never quite wet enough for full wets, many of the top drivers, including Crutchlow, took this as an opportunity to preserve their engines.
The 26-year-old rider from Coventry said: "Today turned out to be quite strange because in both sessions I just sat in the garage waiting for the track conditions to improve.
"It is disappointing for everybody concerned and I feel sorry for the fans here and the people watching on TV at home.
"When the track is damp like that it is very hard to learn anything, so I didn't even put my helmet on.
"It looks like the weather will improve for the rest of the weekend and I am looking forward to getting down to business tomorrow (Saturday)."
After becoming the first British rider in 12 years to finish on the podium when third in Brno last month, Crutchlow added: "I gained a lot of confidence from that and I can't wait to be back on the bike."
