Tyco Suzuki rider claims double win at Donington Park

Josh Brookes stormed to successive victories at Donington Park to claim his first double win of the British Superbike season. The race weekend was the last of the main season, with the top six riders in the championship now set to compete in a three-race Showdown at Assen, the Silverstone Arena and Brands Hatch in the coming weeks. Tyco Suzuki rider Brookes holds one of the Title Fighter berths heading to Assen and finished second in the main season standings, 10 points adrift of the Swan Yamaha of Tommy Hill. The other drivers who will be challenging for the driver's title will be Shane Byrne, Michael Laverty, Alex Lowes and Tommy Bridewell. Supersonic BMW rider Bridewell forced his way past the WFR Honda pair of Lowes and James Westmoreland in the closing laps of the second race, with the latter missing out on a place in the Showdown. Of the drivers who had not made the top six places to occupy the Title Fighter positions, Stuart Easton picked up a seventh-placed finish for Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki, almost three seconds clear of the Padgetts Honda of Luca Scassa. Jon Kirkham's Samsung Honda and the Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki of Chris Walker rounded out the top-10 in race two.
