Crashes and rain forced action to be called off early

Tommy Hill topped the timesheets after two practice sessions for the British Superbike Championship round at Cadwell Park as the day's action was ended early. Shane Byrne crashed at the hairpin and was taken to the medical centre to have a shoulder injury assessed, and heavy rainfall then brought an end to proceedings. Swan Yamaha's Hill had clocked 1 minute 28.477 seconds to lead the way by eight tenths of a second from Alastair Seeley of Tyco Suzuki, with Honda riders Alex Lowes and Michael Laverty close behind in third and fourth respectively. Michael Rutter was fifth fastest on his MSS Bathams Kawasaki having had a strong start to the session, just edging out the Padgetts Honda of Ian Lowry. Chris Walker, Danny Buchan, Gary Mason and Mark Aitchison completed the top 10. Byrne's was not the only crash, with Noriyuki Haga and Luca Scassa both escaping unhurt from falls of their own. Hill himself had hit the tarmac in the first session, but not before edging ahead of Byrne to post the fastest lap time, while a collision between Robbin Harms and Abdulaziz Binladin had brought an early red flag.
