Jari-Matti Latvala: Comfortably ahead with just one day to go in Rally Argentina
Jari-Matti Latvala extended his lead over Volkswagen team-mate Sebastien Ogier on the second day of Rally Argentina.
Latvala began the day with an commanding advantage of 17.7 seconds and stretched that margin to 31.2s at the end of Saturday, with Ogier particularly struggling on the stage from Amboy to Yacanto.
With one day left in the event Ogier accepted Latvala will prove hard to catch, but the Frenchman, who is well clear at the top of the championship standings, will not throw in the towel.
"For now second place is not so bad for us. If the rally ends like that it would not be a big drama - it would be another good result," he told the World Rally Championship's official website.
"That doesn't mean that I'm giving up, because there is still a long way to go and a lot of things can happen."
He added: "If Jari-Matti continues like this morning it will be hard to catch him."
