British diver Tom Daley missed out on a medal at the FINA World Cup in Shanghai on Sunday.

The Olympic bronze medallist failed to secure a podium place as China's Yang Jian clinch the gold in the men’s 10m platform event.

The victory was the ninth title to be claimed by Chinese divers in the biannual tournament, which was last held in London in 2012, and completed a clean sweep for the hosts who also claimed all the silver medals that were available in Shanghai.

Yang took the title on 543.85 points, with team-mate Qiu Bo in second on 528.50, followed by Mexican Ivan Garcia on 504.90, over 34 points ahead of Daley.

Jack Laugher of Britain won a bronze medal in the men’s 3m springboard, but it was a resounding Chinese victory in this event also as Olympic and world champion He Chong took gold on 540.35 points, while Cao Yuan came second on 526.70.

Earlier in the six-day tournament, Huang Xiaohui took the women's 10m platform title, while Wu Minxia and Shi Tingmao claimed victory in the women's synchronised 3m springboard.

Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia claimed the women's synchronised 10m platform title, while China also won the team event, ahead of second-placed Ukraine and Russia.
