A.J. Pierzynski nailed a 10th-inning walk-off triple as the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 at Fenway Park.
Red Sox manager John Farrell and two of his coaching staff were ejected from the game after arguing over pitches from David Price while pitcher Brandon Workman was also given his marching orders.
The Houston Astros won their seventh straight game with a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Robbie Grossman and Jonathan Villar supplied the hits which produced the two Astros runs in the seventh inning with J.J. Hardy providing the RBI for the Orioles.
Madison Bumgarner allowed just three hits and no runs in seven innings as the San Francisco Giants eased to a 9-4 win over the St Louis Cardinals.

The struggling Chicago Cubs suffered an 11-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the San Diego Padres beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1 and the Cincinnati Reds were 6-4 winners over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In the day's remaining games, the Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-5, the neighbouring Dodgers lost 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Detroit Lions were 6-3 winners over the Seattle Mariners.
