Jedd Gyorko was the star of the show as the San Diego Padres as claimed a 10-1 win over the Miami Marlins at Petco Park.

Gyorko hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and had six RBIs. The infielder's home runs came off Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez, who allowed six runs - five of them earned - in five-plus innings.

Elsewhere, Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish fell one out shy of a no-hitter during his side's 8-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Yangervis Solarte hit a three-run homer during the New York Yankees' four-run fourth as they claimed a 5-3 win over Milwaukee Brewers.

Tommy Milone turned in his best start of the season, shutting out the Washington Nationals over eight innings of two-hit ball, as Oakland Athletics claimed an 8-0 win.

Brandon Belt suffered a broken left thumb as San Francisco Giants defeated Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1, while Jason Vargas dominated his former club Seattle Mariners as he tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up just three hits as Kansas City Royals won 6-1.
