Elsewhere, Sonny Gray pitched his first career complete-game shutout, striking out six and allowing just three hits, as Oakland Athletics defeated Texas Rangers 4-0 in Arlington.

Chicago White Sox came from a two-run first innings deficit to claim a 7-3 win over Tampa Bay Rays while Colorado Rockies powered past Arizona Diamondbacks with an 8-5 win.

In the other games, Mike Trout opened the scoring and went on to hit the winner as Los Angeles Angels hit three runs in the eighth innings to defeat Cleveland Indians 6-3, while San Diego Padres beat San Francisco Giants 6-4.
