England team are the tournament underdogs

The England women's indoor hockey team take on Holland, the Czech Republic and Germany in the Euro Indoor Hockey Championships in Prague in a bid to qualify for the 2015 World Championships.

There are five qualifying places available for the World Indoor Championships with host country Germany automatically qualifying for the tournament.

However, England in Group A have a tough three matches ahead of them, including a game with defending champions Germany on Saturday.

And with eight out of the 12 England players newly capped, forward Nicola White is looking forward to challenging the top seeded countries of indoor hockey.

"Indoor is much faster and different to outdoor Hockey," White said.

"There are four people on the court plus a goalkeeper whereas there are 11 players outdoors and you can't lift the ball indoors.

"You can also bounce the ball off the boards which makes the game much more fun for the forwards.

"We have a difficult group with Holland, Czech Republic and Germany, and the Europeans are known for being really good at indoor so it's going to be a real challenge."

And goalkeeper Kirsty Mackay is hoping the England team can cause a real upset as they head into the tournament as the underdogs.

"We are going there to develop ourselves and get used to each other and just learn really," Mackay said.

"We're fairly inexperienced, so there's no pressure and hopefully we'll cause an upset."
